“The Beginning of Saint Leo’s
Church”
To commemorate the laying of the cornerstone of Saint Leo’s Church on September 11 th 1880 and the solemn dedication of the church on September 18 th 1881, an artistic creation of the church as it
looked in the 1880s was commissioned by Saint Leo’s first pastor,
the Reverend Joseph Leo Andreis. This beautiful picture includes
a cameo inset of Father Andreis and his signed comment at the bottom.
In 2006 Saint Leo’s Church will be 125 years old. To kickoff
our plans for a special celebration of this 125 th anniversary of
our church in 2006, copies of this original art piece have been produced
and are now available for sale, with the proceeds going to Saint
Leo’s Parish Building Fund.
The original picture hung for many years on the wall of the vestibule
as you enter the church. Unfortunately, over the years, the picture
has sustained moisture damage, fading, and damage from acid that
has leeched through from the cardboard backing to which it is glued.
We have had this treasured original church artifact copied and
digitally remastered to remove the fading and the moisture and acid
stains and then printed using an art industry ‘cutting edge’ process
called Giclee (ghee-clay) which produces the highest quality print
available.
The result is a beautiful museum quality print that has been produced
on acid-free premium matte paper that is suitable to be displayed
prominently on a wall in your home or office. This also makes for
a special and unique gift for family and friends.
The full-size print comes ready to be hung
in a beautiful custom made gold frame similar to the original and
includes a premium matte border and glass. The full-size print
including frame measures overall approximately 20 inches wide by
25½ inches
high. An unframed reduced size print is also available that measures
approximately 8½ inches wide by 11 inches high. This print
comes packaged in a protective clear plastic presentation sleeve
with a rigid backboard to prevent creasing.
Prices
Full-size custom framed print $95.00
Reduced-size print unframed $15.00
